What it means to be a Kinette

Women Supporting North Perth

The Listowel Kinette Club is a group of women who get together to plan events and services for the local community. They meet at the Kin Station once a month to plan, enjoy a meal, and have a drink. If you are looking to make a difference while enjoying a night out, the Kinette Club may be a great fit for you!

At the heart of everything we do, the community is their purpose

Driven to give back by adding positivity to the community.

The purpose that drives the Kinettes of Listowel begins with the members of the North Perth community. By providing positive and uplifting opportunities for the community to take part in and get involved, they are creating an encouraging environment to do good and bring support to those in need.

What to expect as a Kinette

Once you become a Kinette, there are monthly meetings to socialize and brainstorm ways to help the community. Once they have agreed on upcoming events, they divide the roles based on talents and interests. There is a lot of fun to be had while planning and participating in the events!

Aside from planning and hosting events, time is spent together through group outings and internal activities that create long-lasting friendships. It’s important for the Kinettes to take the time to get to know each other as friends, rather than just members of the same club, helping each other feel empowered.

Words from our Kinsmen

“Definitely the "snaaaacksss" we get to indulge in! I became a Kin member because when I ran for Paddyfest, I got to experience a club I didn't know about. Over the years of being a Kinette, I grew fond relationships and am proud of being a part of an organization for our very own community's betterment.”
Juanita Kerr

“I joined the Kinettes because my Mom was on the Kinettes for quite some time and had nothing but good things to say about the club and the friendships she made through Kinettes. I have made amazing friendships through my short years on Kinettes and women who I may have never met through the community! It also feels great to be giving back and getting out.”
Regan Miller

“I originally joined Kinettes as a way to socialize with adults as I worked from home and was surrounded by little people all day. Over the past 13 years, I have met the most amazing people through this club and formed some incredible friendships. There's always a lot of laughter when we are together, all while serving the community's greatest need. Kinettes is more than a club. It's a family.”
Jennifer O'Grady

“I became a Kinette member as I was new to the community and was looking for ways to get involved and meet new people. My good friend Juan mentioned how much fun and rewarding Kinettes is and asked me to come to a meeting a few years ago. At my first meeting, I got to see a great group of women coming together to benefit the community also while having a great time. Some of my favourite things about being a Kinette member is our fine sessions at meetings that often end up in a room full of laughter, our 15 minutes of fun and being able to see our name out in the community after contributing to community betterment projects. Recently I gave birth at the Listowel memorial hospital, where the Kinette club funded the nursing room and the waiting room furniture. I was proud to see our name up on the wall as a reminder that what we do as a club is such an important piece of our community.”

“I've been a Kinette for almost 20 years. I still enjoy going to meetings, helping my community, and making friends with so many different people. Meetings are filled with laughs and support, and projects bring events and money for things that only add to North Perth, like the splash pad and playgrounds, for example. As for the friendships, I can't say how many wonderful people I now count as friends through Kin! You will find friendly faces if you decide to come out to a meeting.”
